After last fortnights updated release of the Odamex-engine to version 0.6.4, Szilárd Biró announced that he released the first version of a GUI frontend for the engine as well.
Odamex is a free, cross-platform modification of the Doom engine that allows players to easily join servers dedicated to playing Doom online. The goal of Odamex is to add enhancements to Doom while still retaining that "classic Doom feel". Odamex use is not restricted to online multiplayer mode but can also be used playing offline, although most mods are created for multiplayer gaming. More information on Odamex can be found on its wiki.
In this updated release, BSzili added a new experimental GUI frontend. A picture of the frontend can be seen in this post. Please report any issues concerning Odamex and/or the new front-end in this thread.
In order to make use of the Odamex engine, a copy of Doom or Doom II is recommended to play it. If you do not own Doom, it can be purchased on Steam. Other alternatives include using FreeDoom, or the Shareware version of Doom.
