Re: Tiny Aros Distrò
Rufus up to version 3.20 works perfectly with Win7. The new 4.x versions of Rufus on the contrary, as reported by "Amigamia" do not support native AROS images well.

Re: AROS Archives Thread
@Puni I noticed that if in the Libs/Hollywood path there is the library "avcodec.hwp", some audio tracks are disturbed, only loud hissing can be heard, basically the audio file seems to be corrupted, if I delete the library "avcodec.hwp" everything works perfectly ! Identifying the cause of the corruption of musical pieces was not easy ! The tracks that can be heard badly are: Void-FB11 - First Track Void-FB14 - Second Track

Re: AROS Archives Thread
Hi, Just uploaded Feedback 14 to AROS Archives, but messed up the filename of the archive. It is called "void-fb14-aros.i386-aros.zip_.zip", but should be "void-fb14-aros.i386-aros.zip". Hope this can be fixed. :-) Thanks in advance! I could not find an option to change the name after it had been uploaded.

Re: Congrats to the developers and distributors
Hi, Great, it is one method we advise if you have issue on a particular machine is to swap with storage device from one that works to see if solves it (you usually can swap storage devices without AROS worrying unlike windows :-)).

Re: Congrats to the developers and distributors
I can't believe, how easy it was to install my own music tracker machine. Only one Computer died through this experience. **** it should be the machine that runs it all. :'-( But i read that Fujitsy Siemens Futros were good supported. I have three machines of them here one S300 and two S400. The two S400 had trouble with grub. grub couldn't read the block 0x0 of the cf cards. Whatever that means, the installion stopped. So i decided to install the system on the S300 but i had no sound. After reading some Websites, i read an Audiophile 2496 Rev B 2003 works. After googling that card, i have one here okay it is the older version the Rev A 2000. Whoever wrote that on the website https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_support "a little quiet needs amplify the sound about 20-30 decibel" i love you but, you didn't ask if i check the cables. I did a fast beep test but i didn't check if there any shortcuts on the cables, so please take that comment out, it isn't confirmed or if i am tried the right output: https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=1222&pid=4536#post_4536 Okay, i got AROS running on a Futro S300 and the fantastic thing it ran better than a Linux system. During that time i messed up a nightly build from March 8. 2024 and the real ArosOne installation. I confused so many things and Protrekkr didn't as it should on the S300. No real great problem. I didn't expect a Transmeta CPU could work. But something strange happened, i tested if the card with an installed system would work on a S400. It did work. OMG! The next step was to install AROSone on a 8GB card on the S300 and then move the card to an S400. These two S400 works with an 750 MHz AMD CPU instead of 800 MHz Transmeta CPU. And now my surprise: Protrekkr is working how it should and the sound isn't too quit. It is blewing my mind. Okay the graphic isn't updated and i am not sure if sounds too 8bit. But give me times to check it. Best Regards, Borni

Re: Best way to explore AROS?
Yes, it takes time even just to gain some experience in desktop use, starting with a simple installation of a distribution I think is the main step, icaros desktop is well documented even if obsolete in its code, then as said if you only need a few applications you are on the right track, time to get the basics of the operating system

Re: Questions about usage of AROS
If you are talking about me, I didn't judge anything. I only said that Aros One comes with a lot of 3rd party software. In my case, I don't need the vast majority of these, and is likely other users will be in the same situation, but there is no option to choose which individual software to install, so in the end I will have to investing a lot of time installing everything, plus more time to delete the things that I don't need, hence why I suggested an approach similar to Icaros. Also, even when some people said "just delete the things you don't need", but as a totally new user of AROS and Amiga coming from Linux/Win background it is difficult to assess what is ok to delete and what is not. The three main OSes (Mac, Win, Linux) discourage a "manual" deletion of programs, rather use proper uninstalling methods to avoid deleting things you are not supposed to, so I cannot know if deleting "pixman.library" that comes already with Icaros and Aros One will affect something else in the system.
My comment was not addressed to you , I was speaking in general As we have already mentioned AROS is not Windows and it is not Linux, deleting what is "not in the system folders" can be deleted, so you can delete all the contents of the Extras and Tools folder, the only thing to do next is to delete the Assigns from the startups. No OS (Win Linux MAC) in the world can be started from a Shell with a simple (immediate) command, no OS can run an Application or Game without using the OS (like Play Station), watch this attached video is then tell me which OS can do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGWiR6EL-qw

Re: Best way to explore AROS?
It's an interesting question. Perhaps relating this to other free time activities can be a good approach. What is the best way to spend holidays? Some people will want to lay on beach or by the pool, have drinks and read book. Others will want a quided tour. Every day in different place, but everything organized, pre-planned and taken care of by someone else just guiding them from attraction to attration. Yet others will want to take a backpack, hitch a ride, walk the trail and enjoy freedome to choose what they explore. Neither of these three approaches is good or bad. Each is simply personal, catering to who you are and what you want. So what's the best way to explore AROS? It's... personal. If you found something that gives you joy and makes you want to explore even more - your are on your right personal path and that's the only thing that matters. Volounteer projects like AROS live and die the by the enjoyment they give to people and people's wilingess to do more. As for "must visited" topics, I honestly couldn't name any without knowing which personal path a person is Wandering ( ;) ). A developer working mostly in cross-compilation will have different set of important topic to visit than a user wanting to do 100% of daily computer usage on AROS. I see that from my person experience where I'm fairly familiar with how AROS kernel works, but AROS shell scripts can surpise me.

Re: Questions about usage of AROS
@AMIGASYSTEM - OlafSch, I did not create AROS One for me, but for all AROS users, initially I had my AROS based on AspireOS and IcarOS, then I decided to create my own Distribution trying to improve or add something of my own.
And it is great that people create things for others.
I don't get angry because they prefer a Build Base, I get angry because people judge without having first tried and seen what is inside a Distribution, also I get angry because they don't listen to the advice of those who have more eseperience. When you are not experienced reinventing the wheel gets you nowhere, instead you should start from a base and continue to develop, only in this way do you create, otherwise you decline.
If you are talking about me, I didn't judge anything.
