Hi

I installed Aros One v2.8 on a Asus EeePC 1000 Netbook.

All went well, I setup the WIFI with a compatible Atheros 5K WiFi card and can browse the Internet with OWB. Sound working perfectly .

But when I come to set Samba, executing the SMB2-GUI programme to setup the Samba connection , I get a software failure window displayed, see attached photograph.

Hi Derek, thanks for letting me know. Actually, the SMB2-GUI binary does not work on AROS One v2.8. Perhaps it was a test version copied by mistake. I tried SMB2 GUI installed on AROS One 2.7 (same version) and it works perfectly.

You can find the working version at this link attached: Arosarchive. Just copy the binary!

On AROS One 2.8, during the update, I accidentally copied some half-empty “duplicate” folders into the “Extras/Internet” folder. You can delete them.

Soon there will be an updated version of AROS One 2.9 32Bit that fixes this and adds updated software.

Hi,

I downloaded the updated SMB2-GUI file, directly to the EeePC 1000 running Aros v2.8 with OWB and installed in the SMB2 folder.

The new application worked okay, but I was unable to connect to my Samba Server.

I reloaded Aros One v2.4 which connected to the Samba Server first time, and I am typing on the EeePC 1000 in OWB.

The same Mountlist (Storage/DOSDrivers/SMB2) that you use on AROS One 2.4 must also work with AROS One 2.8 (it works perfectly for me), the only difference being that AROS One 2.8 includes the latest version of ‘smb2-handler’ which, in Windows systems, allows automatic remounting after Windows disconnects after 15 minutes of inactivity (security procedure).
