My first AROS artile will be the next eddition of Amiga Addict and I'm about to start writing the next, which will focus on harware, installation and distrbutions. So a quick question if I may - can you still set up a multboot with Windows 10 and/or 11? Not having a personal copy of Widows I can't check for mysell.

I haven't been able to do multiboot with Windows with the latest builds, before it was all automatic. Anyway, you can install Windows 10, at least I managed to. You need to make the ISO using Microsoft's tool.

I'd suggest omiting dual-booting option and focus on dedicated hardware or VM. I don't have a way to maintain that option working.

Aros also works on non-dedicated hardware with some exceptions, like maybe changing the graphics card if you don't want to go with VESA and an Ethernet card. I usually used to install Windows first and then Aros, and in the GRUB you could see the Microsoft operating system entry and the process was automatic. Now, with the latest builds, it doesn't work.

Just to clarity: by "dedicated" I meant "separate" hardware from person's main Window/Linux computer.

Oddly enough I've been working on the article today and that's eactly where it's gone. I've said I may talk about dual-booting n a later article (I'm thinking with Linux rather than Windows as per the reent discussion here on AROSworld).

Another quick question if I may - what is the theoretical upper limit for memory on 64 bit?

I guess the theoretical address space limit is 2^64 but I reality don't know if hardware actually implements 64-bit address busses or smaller and there is also a limitation in AROS memory manager - I don't know that limit . One concrete example is that @terminills is running AROS on his server which has 256GB RAM - so we know at least that amount will work.

I know this isn't the answer to your question, but for years I've been keeping my operating systems on separate drives and selecting them from the motherboard's boot menu - that way, I don't have to worry about them conflicting with each other in GRUB Smile

Sorry, anoher question - or rather a cofirmation. I've just spent some time trying to boot an AROS 64 bit USB on an ASUS BR1100 laptop with no luck. It seems there is no way to set legacy boot for this machine (no 'CSM' option). So am I correct in saying that at present AROS native cannot be booted on such a system?

There was work done by Kalamatee in the past of booting with EFI, but I didn't invest time yet into integrationg and testing it. For now the requirement is that a PC can boot with legacy mode/BIOS.
