This Week in AROS
I was inspired by Deadwood to create a comprehensive weekly roundup of what's happening in the AROS ecosystem
It covers OS development from git commits, software projects, and AROS-related news
I'll put the second version of the first edition in the next post
I'm sure it's missing some items and sources I'm still fine-tuning it
It's created by a Grokbot that collects the info into a report and then generates the article from that
The bot can't access this forum well due to crawling limitations, and the same for some other sites
So, if there is something missing, let me know if there is a repository and/or website for news and updates on it
Plus, I'm looking for feedback and suggestions
This weekly news article is for the wider Amiga, tech, and public communities to inform them of what's happening with the project and the ecosystem

This Week in AROS: October 10-17, 2026
AROS is a free, open-source operating system inspired by the classic Amiga. It runs on PCs, Raspberry Pi boards, classic Amigas, PowerPC and RISC-V. This week was one of the busiest in a long time. Here is what changed, who did it, and why it matters.
A very busy week for the main code
Seven developers added 269 changes to the main AROS code and 97 pull requests were merged. Andy Rexx (cyberman) made 104 changes, Gareth Davidson (bitplane) made 76, and Nick Andrews (Kalamatee) made 47. Jaime Dias (JJDSNT), Bo Ståle Kopperud (bsek), Espen Otterstad and Nicolas Ramz (warpdesign) also helped.
Code: https://github.co...-team/AROS
User accounts and security
(Kalamatee)
- AROS now has a graphical Accounts app. You can add and manage users and groups from a window instead of editing files.
- New default accounts and groups were added, so a fresh system starts with a sensible setup.
- Each user can now have their own assigns (AROS's named shortcuts to folders), so two people on one machine can each keep their own setup.
- security.library 45.14 and pam.library got stronger login checks.
Why it matters: these are the building blocks for real multi-user use, where several people share one AROS machine safely.
Networking
- Kalamatee rebuilt libssh and turned on sshd, an SSH server. You can now log in to an AROS machine from another computer.
- Kalamatee added timesyncd, which sets the clock from the internet. Network Prefs got a new Services tab to switch these services on and off.
- JJDSNT added multicast support to AROSTCP, the AROS network stack, and mdnsd, which lets other computers find an AROS machine by its name on the local network.
- In contrib, the AROS VNC server (remote screen sharing) now runs as a managed network service.
Why it matters: AROS can now act more like a modern networked computer, not just a desktop.
Safer disks
(bitplane)
bitplane fixed 33 bugs in the PFS3 filesystem, 25 in smbfs (Windows network shares) and 18 in SFS. Failed writes now report an error instead of quietly losing data, and one SFS fix stops defragmenting from damaging the disk.
Why it matters: these filesystems hold people's files. Fewer silent errors means less lost data.
Raspberry Pi
- bsek wrote a new driver so wired Ethernet now works on the Raspberry Pi 5.
- The Pi 5 and Pi 500 can now power off, reboot, and use their power button.
- bsek also fixed Wi-Fi joining, SD-card rescans, and two problems with using more than one CPU core.
- A user reports the latest test build runs on a Pi 400 with Wi-Fi, though the mouse pointer starts out frozen.
PC and other systems
- The installer (InstallAROS) can now set up modern EFI booting on PCs.
- A USB 3 (xHCI) bug fix landed for PCs.
- warpdesign fixed the classic Amiga (m68k) ROM build, which had grown too big.
- Kalamatee fixed the clock on RISC-V, and Espen Otterstad fixed a bug in the version that runs on macOS.
- Rust developers got a shared store of crates patched for AROS, plus two new Rust ports: the Maolan audio app and the PhotoCraft graphics app.
- cyberman wrote a large amount of new developer documentation, especially for the C maths library, USB and threads.
Fresh test builds for PC, Raspberry Pi, classic Amiga, PowerPC, RISC-V and hosted Linux and Windows: http://www.aros.o...htly1.html
New apps and tools
- Folio 0.5 (PDF reader) now draws pages in the background. In one test the longest freeze dropped from 27.7 seconds to under a fifth of a second. https://github.co...s/tag/v0.5
- Limpet (a new terminal for the AROS Shell) had five releases in five days. Version 0.5.0 adds find-in-output, a settings file, and fixes a crash. It supports Unicode, colour, scrollback and inline images. https://github.co...iak/limpet
- arospkg 0.5.0 (package manager for the AROS Archives) adds an "apkg run" command and a preview of a demo store. https://github.co...tag/v0.5.0
- Boxer preview 4, a manager for DOS games, is out as an early test version. https://github.co...0-preview4
- coffeecat showed Hardcode, an AI coding helper that runs on AROS itself inside Limpet. It can edit files and run commands after you approve them. https://arosworld...ad_id=2145
- Amelinium 1.3.8, the web browser credited to Paweł Nowak, was uploaded to the AROS Archives.
- BebboSSH 1.0.6 and TelegramAmiga 0.0.96 came out with builds for 64-bit PC, 32-bit PC and Raspberry Pi. https://github.co...s/releases
- danilos released a preview of AFileManager, a new file manager for 32-bit AROS. https://arosworld...ad_id=2143
- Bohun updated VCStat (Pi temperature and power monitor) to 0.6 and released piSensors 0.2 for reading Pi sensors.
- Stefan Reinauer released Zune68 Beta 1, which brings AROS's Zune interface toolkit to AmigaOS 3. https://github.co...2026.10.12
- New projects appeared too: a Rust kit for AROS (ami-rust), the BFS filesystem (v0.3.0), and ready-made QEMU setups for AROS on ARM64 (pomaros-qemu).
Distros and emulators
- piAROS 0.4.1 by Bohun for Raspberry Pi adds missing programs and improves Wi-Fi. Bohun plans another update with the newest Wi-Fi fix.
- Copperline 1.0.0, a new Amiga emulator written in Rust, ships an updated AROS ROM so it can start without the original Amiga ROM. The new ROM has about 35 KB more free memory, and Nicolas Ramz reports more than 16 CD32 games running. https://copperlin...1-0-0.html
Big story: an AmigaOS 4 kernel runs on a Raspberry Pi 2
Andrea Palmatè of AmigaLabs is building a new kernel for AmigaOS 4 based on AROS code. In September it ran on PowerPC machines. This week it booted all the way to Workbench on a real Raspberry Pi 2. The screen now runs at 1280x720, and it can load up to 160 modules, up from 32.
It is still early: USB doesn't work yet, storage is a 4 MB RAM disk, it uses only one CPU core, and there is no release date. The code is private for now, but he says it will be open source "as soon as possible."
Why it matters: it shows AROS code powering a different Amiga-style system on cheap ARM hardware.

- Pull requests waiting for review include DHCP restart when a cable is plugged in and per-screen mouse fixes (bsek), network MIDI (JJDSNT), and network stack fixes for multi-core systems (jonx).
- A piAROS update with the newest Wi-Fi fix is planned.
- coffeecat wants to bring PhotoCraft and wider Rust support to the main 64-bit AROS soon, and plans a window interface for Hardcode.

Posted 2 days agoGreat, awesome job! It would be good to publish this somewhere else as well, because most of us here on the AROS forum already know these facts, and it would be interesting for people who don't follow AROS on a daily basis.
You forgot Envoy (classic Amiga file sharing system, integrated with AROSTCP and Security.library, AROSTCP new services, security keys support (2FA, OTP, etc.) and not so long ago the Installer(*), the narrator, Bluetooth, etc.
Most of this is about AROS One, which is a distribution, not AROS itself, could you please make changes to stop the confusion.
Looks very like a random/cherry picked list!
The patronizing tone is insufferable: "assigns (AROS's named shortcuts to folders)" ! They are NOT shortcuts at all.
(*) C:Tools/InstallAROS is NOT the C:Utilities/Installer which is a clone of the Commodore Installer(TM) with its recent new Amiga additions.

Posted 1 day agoNice, this is useful for people outside the bubble. Two things, though: I’d split core AROS from distros (AROS One, piAROS); outsiders won’t know which is which. And the “assigns are shortcuts” thing is the tricky part of writing for outsiders, simple but not wrong. Hard to get right solo. Maybe open a thread where people can throw in items and corrections before it goes out - e.g., on Discord. I can imagine it's hard to get it right the first time; stuff happens in too many places to track alone. Some improvements here and there but keep it up!

Even though I'm not a developer, and even though my software isn't as important you didn't mention a single one of them it seems to me that this isn't quite right!

It's currently posted on X, Facebook, and Mastodon That's the only social media I do
Any suggestions on other sites that might expose the general public and computer enthusiasts to the news

Any suggestions for other information sources Only new changes will be reported each week, so if a checked item has no changes, then nothing is reported on it
I'm adding a suggestions section at the end for people to submit news items or new sources to check I'll also be creating a topic here that the bot will watch for the same
Not sure why you feel this was mostly focused on AROS One The bot might not have been making that distinction between AROS and AROS One I've pointed it at this topic, and it will separate those out into their own sections
The bot is also not an Amiga nor AROS expert It has corrected that issue with ASSIGNS and the installer
These News Articles are not for us, but for the much wider Amiga community and the General Public that doesn't know much or anything about Amiga stuff It's also geared to simplified English as I know many in the retrocomputing are not native speakers I instructed the bot to keep the wording simple and explain terms that the general public may not know I've adjusted this due to your feedback We'll see how it goes
@Bohun - There has been a misunderstanding. I am not the author of vcstat or pisensor; the author is a programmer who goes by the handle "rhun." I only performed testing.
Yup, I missed that The bot got confused about the name due to the similarity I told it that it wasn't a typo in the sources and not to make such assumptions in the future
@coffeecat - Nice, this is useful for people outside the bubble. Two things, though: I’d split core AROS from distros (AROS One, piAROS); outsiders won’t know which is which. Exactly, its main audience is for those outside the bubble, then those that are but not in the AROS community The AROS project has a wide reach outside of the OS ecosystem, as we've seen with various tech news sites mentioning the AROS rPi branch, the Raspberry Pi forums, Amiga Labs new AmigaOS 4 kernel, and Zune on AmigaOS That's just a few recent instances, but that reach has been there for decades, to various degrees, and not many know about it
This is the report the bot generated that was used as the basis for the article "This Week in AROS"
It's been generating these for the last few weeks before I pulled the trigger on making weekly news articles from them One issue is the bot took my instruction on keeping it simple in content and wording a little too far There have been corrections I'll have it run a new revision on the revised instruction tonight, including any from this topic I'll post the result for further refinement so next Saturday's article can be even better Remember, this isn't for you, it's for everyone else

- **Raspberry Pi 5 Ethernet:** bsek added a [cdnsgemSANA-II driver for the RP1's Cadence GEM](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/f9d6a01764e420c7151f3e9040605d1762fb4e07) ([PR #1601](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1601), Oct 14).
- **Installer:** InstallAROS [now installs the EFI bootloader](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/a18bc55bdf6029d0d2521af78ca5c4ca9c1760b6) (Oct 16).
- **Rust:**
- A [shared store of AROS-patched crates](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/b0f214167aa4cdfd92c370ea41b1cc8f752fcf8f), with a matching [contrib crate store](https://github.com/aros-development-team/contrib/commit/b8ecd4bcaf9c01aceb30ae95c562a7dc081cf81d).
- [Two Rust ports,audio/maolanandgraphics/photocraft](https://github.com/aros-development-team/ports/commit/8a6faee121308276c74493da23fe418b37c01f78), in the ports repo.
- **Graphics:**

### Nightly builds
Time-sensitive: the nightly listings rotate. The [nightly builds page](http://www.aros.org/nightly1.html) loads its list dynamically, so this status comes from the [build list it embeds](https://aros.sourceforge.io/cgi-bin/files?lang=en&type=nightly2) [7].
The **2026-10-17** build is a full set of 46 files (7.0 G[8]. It covers:
- amiga-m68k
- pc-i386
- pc-x86_64, plus an SMP boot ISO the page calls "highly experimental"
- raspi-aarch64 and raspi-armhf
- sam440-ppc
- opensbi-riscv64 (contrib only; the system archive is from the 10-14 build)
- six hosted Linux/MinGW system archives
The 10-15 directory has only documentation and sources, and the 10-14 directory has only the RISC-V system archive [9].
**Worth checking:**raspi-aarch64-smp-systemis only 7.3 kB, which suggests an empty or failed artifact. That is an inference; the build logs were not checked. There is **no Apple Silicon (darwin-aarch64) target**. A darwin-x86_64 archive is listed on the cgi page but is not in the 10-17 folder.
aros.org posted no news this week; the newest item is still the July 29 highlights post [10].
## By Branch / Target
aros-development-team/AROS has **only one branch, master**. Each section below is therefore a path- and keyword-filtered view of master [11].
### master / ABIv11

Two bsek PRs are still open: [DHCP restart on link-up](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1640) and [per-screen mouse coordinates](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1639) [3].
From users:
- The latest nightly runs on a Pi 400 with Wi-Fi, but the pointer starts out frozen ([issue #1651](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/issues/1651)) [12].
- Bohun filed [Raspi Wi-Fi issue #1597](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/issues/1597).
### Apple Silicon / darwin / Macaros
espenotterstad's [darwin interrupt-masking fix](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/546652c1cd3a6df23db2c470ea1de6bc2d31f0ea) was the only darwin commit [1].
[Macaros](https://github.com/jonx/Macaros) had no commits. 0.2.1 (Aug 15) is still current, and its notes say "We are not planning a bare-metal Apple Silicon version" [13].
jonx was active elsewhere:
- He opened four AROS PRs on Oct 16, including [AROSTCP SMP race fixes](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1654) and [AROSTCP without intuition.library](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1655).
- He pushed to [rust-aros](https://github.com/jonx/rust-aros) (Rust std for hosted darwin-aarch64), [aros-pkg](https://github.com/jonx/aros-pkg), [afsplus](https://github.com/jonx/afsplus) and [aros-extfat](https://github.com/jonx/aros-extfat) [14].
### hosted
Ten commits are tagged hosted [1]:

- warpdesign's [PR #1572](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1572) "restore[s] Amiga m68k ROM builds after AFS code growth".
Outside the repo:
- [Copperline 1.0.0](https://copperline.dev/news/copperline-1-0-0.html) ships a refreshed AROS ROM with "about 35 KB more free memory" [15].
- Stefan Reinauer's [Zune68](https://github.com/reinauer/zune68), an AmigaOS 3 port of AROS Zune, reached Beta 1 [16].
### RISC-V
Kalamatee [fixed the riscv64/opensbi RTC](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/7e1bcbafabf1b4970973669dfa14059f78ef5802) on Oct 13; it was the only RISC-V commit [1]. The nightly says "Currently only the Milk-V Titan is supported" [7].
### pc
The two pc-tagged commits are cyberman's docs for the [Install-i386-pc](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/1eee977ccce6938e27d0ba35580da5ed013fd628) and [Install-grub2](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/commit/94311c3b805fb1a0db6451251a6851eb159bbd58) options. The changes that matter more to PC users are InstallAROS's EFI support and the pcixhci fix [1].
## ABIv0 / 32-bit
[deadwood2/AROS](https://github.com/deadwood2/AROS) had **no commits on any branch** this week [17] [18]:
- [alt-abiv0](https://github.com/deadwood2/AROS/commits/alt-abiv0) last moved on Oct 4, with a TCP tuning backport.
- The ABIv11 master last moved on Oct 2, with an [Amelinium custom-screen workaround](https://github.com/deadwood2/AROS/commit/5b5fd4cfd4f039927c0d1bb9cdd7f4fc8644d23e).
- AxRuntime last moved on Sep 20.
[AROS ABIv11 2026.09](https://github.com/deadwood2/AROS/releases) (Sep 14) is still the latest release, and the [axrt.org downloads](https://www.axrt.org/downloads-aros-64bit) are unchanged [19].

AROS One 1.4 (64-bit) is still pending [25].
## Independent Software Development
Many of this week's projects are published under the [tomaszstaniak GitHub account](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak). coffeecat links these repositories from his own AROSWorld posts: rust-aros, the Folio and arospkg downloads, and the GrafX2 r5 release [26] [27] [28]. The list below attributes work to coffeecat only where a forum post does.
**Projects under the tomaszstaniak account**
- **[Folio 0.5](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/aros-foliopdf/releases/tag/v0.5)** (PDF viewer, Oct 12; tested on x86_64 ABIv11). Pages now render in a background worker. On AROS One 1.3 under QEMU, the longest UI pause fell from 27.7 s to 193 ms; scanned PDFs improved only 2.6×, short of the 4× target [29].
- **[Limpet](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/limpet)** (x86_64 ABIv11). Five releases between Oct 11 and Oct 15, from 0.2.1 to [0.5.0](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/limpet/releases/tag/v0.5.0). The repo describes it as "A terminal for the AROS Shell: Unicode, colour, scrollback, reflow, inline images". 0.5.0 fixes a crash when POSIX programs query the window size, and adds find-in-output, a settings file and an experimentalLIMPET:console handler [30].
- **[arospkg](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/arospkg)** (package manager for the AROS Archives). Versions 0.4.2 and [0.5.0](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/arospkg/releases/tag/v0.5.0) shipped Oct 11. The new version addsapkg runand a "Demo store" preview ("Purchases are not available". Status by build: stable on x86_64 ABIv11, QEMU-tested on i386 ABIv0, and experimental on ABIv1 and on the Pi [31].
- **[Boxer 0.1.0-preview4](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/aros-boxerapp/releases/tag/v0.1.0-preview4)** (DOS game manager, x86_64 ABIv11, Oct 11). Experimental: the author warns that closing a stuck session can crash AROS [32].
- **GrafX2 2.9-r5** (x86_64 ABIv11; [release](https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/aros-grafx2/releases/tag/v2.9-r5) Oct 8, just before the window). AMIGASYSTEM reports that some Shift and keypad combinations still fail on English and Italian keymaps [28].
**coffeecat's forum announcements**
- **Hardcode**, "a native AI agent for AROS". It runs inside Limpet, edits files, runs AmigaDOS commands with approval, and supports Anthropic- and OpenAI-compatible backends. No target is stated, and no public repo was found [33].
- A Win32 Mandelbrot demo framed as "what-if Wine on AROS", posted as a challenge rather than an announced project [27].
**Other projects**
- **Amelinium 1.3.8** (web browser; the Archives entry reads "Web Browser and E-mail client". Uploaded to the AROS Archives on Oct 15 [23]. amiga-news.de and an X post credit **Paweł Nowak** [34] [35]. The [forum thread](https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2082) covers 1.3.5 and 1.3.6 tests on the Pi.
- **[OdysseyWebBrowser](https://github.com/deadwood2/OdysseyWebBrowser)** (target not stated). deadwood pushed "webkitgtk-2.46.1+wayfarer-9" and a [missing-icon crash fix](https://github.com/deadwood2/OdysseyWebBrowser/commit/de9127264ac3aa4e87a9cc7dac01b4dc4b0908b0) on Oct 12 [36].
- **[TelegramAmiga 0.0.96](https://github.com/kaffeine1/telegram-amiga/releases)** (Oct 11) and **[BebboSSH 1.0.6](https://github.com/kaffeine1/bebbossh-aros/releases)** (Oct 15), both from the kaffeine1 GitHub account, ship x86_64, i386 and aarch64 (Pi) AROS builds [22] [21]. A [RetroLab article](https://androidlab.it/en/bebbossh-aros-105-ssh-on-raspberry-pi/) covers BebboSSH 1.0.5 on the Pi; it was seen only as a search snippet.
- **terminills (ABIv1), unverified claims.** He wrote "So I decided ABIv1 needed printer support", in a Gutenprint context. He claims "a fully working Electron port, a complete office suite, modern web browsing, stable SMP (for me right now)" and says he "committed the AMDGPU driver last week" [26]. None of these has a public release. His [aros-web](https://github.com/terminills/aros-web) and [chromium-aros-patches](https://github.com/terminills/chromium-aros-patches) repos were last pushed on Sep 25. He is not among this week's master authors.
- **Pi tools by Bohun (aarch64):**
- [VCStat](https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2144), a temperature, voltage and power monitor, went from 0.5 to 0.6.
- [piSensors 0.2](https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2150) is a GPIO library for the DHT11/22 and BME/BMP280 sensors.
- **AMIGASYSTEM** (built with AI assistance, by his own account; target not stated): a [BoingIconBar update](https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2151) with skins and a Prefs GUI, a [Wanderer Info tool](https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2140) and [Mini Player](https://arosworld.org/infusions/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=2141).
- **SDL2 and games.** retrofaza's only release was a ZGloom (x86_64 ABIv11) fix for menu launches [37]. Kalamatee's [AROS_Games](https://github.com/Kalamatee/AROS_Games) got an [OpenMW build tweak](https://github.com/Kalamatee/AROS_Games/commit/d6526ca1cb264436f81622a8f9ebc46b98c84681).
**New repositories** [38]:
- [metaneutrons/ami-rust](https://github.com/metaneutrons/ami-rust): a Rust SDK for x86-64 ABIv1, created Oct 15.
- [metaneutrons/BFS](https://github.com/metaneutrons/BFS): a copy-on-write filesystem for 68020+, up to v0.3.0.
- [pomaros/pomaros-qemu](https://github.com/pomaros/pomaros-qemu): QEMU profiles for an AROS ARM64 guest, with commits by jonx; preview released Oct 16.
- [cyberman/JanUAE](https://github.com/cyberman/JanUAE): "the virtual 68k system for productive AmigaOS applications. Running on AROS."
- [JJDSNT/aros-midihub](https://github.com/JJDSNT/aros-midihub): accompanies his open network-MIDI PRs such as [#1586](https://github.com/aros-development-team/AROS/pull/1586).
- [DalsinAI/amigachrome-gameports](https://github.com/DalsinAI/amigachrome-gameports): game ports for m68k AROS.
## Distros / Versions and Platforms
- **piAROS 0.4.1** (Bohun, about Oct 12) adds missing programs, fixes the BoingIconBar terminal entry and improves Wi-Fi ("better but not perfectly". Bohun plans an update with the Wi-Fi fix from the nightly [39]. Downloads (time-sensitive): [archive.org](https://archive.org/download/piAROS) and [piaros.amiga.icu](https://piaros.amiga.icu/); neither was fetched. Bohun advises FAT16 or FAT32 cards, not exFAT.
- **AROS One 1.4** is still pending. AMIGASYSTEM's mid-September estimate was "a few weeks or sooner", and there was no update this week [25].
- **TinyAROS, AROS.games, Icaros and AxRuntime** were quiet. [tinyaros.it](https://www.tinyaros.it/) returns a 404, and Icaros has been [frozen since November 2025](http://vmwaros.blogspot.com/2025/11/until-we-meet-again-icaros-desktop.html) (seen only as a search snippet).
- **AmigaLabs' AROS-derived OS4 kernel** boots on a Pi 2. It is experimental, with no USB and only RAM-disk storage; see Notable [40].
- **ApolloOS**: two commits on Oct 10, including "restore INTENA master bit when leaving Paula int". There was no release [41].
- **AmiBench / SystemV46**: no update [42].
- **Copperline 1.0.0** bundles the AROS ROM so it can boot without a Kickstart [43]. Nicolas Ramz reports more than 16 CD32 games running on it [44].
- **MorphOS** (not AROS-derived): Iris 1.55 and MorphUAE 1.2 were released [45].

## Notable
**An AROS-derived AmigaOS 4 kernel boots to Workbench on a Raspberry Pi 2.** This is the pick of the week for two reasons: it shows AROS-derived code running a different operating system on ARM hardware, and it got the widest coverage of any AROS-related item. amiga-news.de, GenerationAmiga, Amigaportal.cz, Retro Game Wire and several X accounts all picked it up [55] [56] [49] [57].
In late September, Andrea Palmatè's replacement kernel was reported running AmigaOS 4.1 multicore on X5000 and Sam460ex PowerPC machines [48]. According to GenerationAmiga, the ARM port started in QEMU and now reaches Workbench on real Pi 2 hardware [40]. Recent progress:
- Resolution of 1280×720 on VideoCore (up from 640×480), with three display buffers.
- The loadable-module limit raised from 32 to 160.
- A memory-layout fix that protects the boot archive, at a cost of up to 32 MB of RAM.
- Yielding between equal-priority tasks.
The limits are just as clear:
- No USB host support yet.
- Storage is a 4 MB RAM volume.
- No multicore on ARM.
- No release date or installable package.
- The kernel source is still in a private repository.
AmigaLabs' public [clib4](https://github.com/AmigaLabs/clib4) gained ARM start-object build commits on Oct 11 ([140f3f7](https://github.com/AmigaLabs/clib4/commit/140f3f790237e2aac329fcaa38dc35ee97d384dc)). Any link between those commits and the kernel port is speculation [58].

- New projects appeared too: a Rust kit for AROS (ami-rust), the BFS filesystem (v0.3.0)
Does it support writing?

Thanks for doing that, really great initiative. I like how wide you cast the net and gather information from all corners of AROS ecosystem and that you are targetting this to the "outside" rather then "inside". This is how this community can grow and sustain itself.
Also your edited/final raport reads good so it shows effort being put into making it more accessible

AROS One 1.4 (64-bit) is still pending [25].
I haven't released AROS One 1.4 yet because, in the meantime, I've created numerous applications that I'm currently finishing and testing, and I'd like to include them all.
I don't know the exact timeline yet, but AROS One 1.4 will be available as soon as possible more feature-rich and functional than before. For AROS One 32-bit, the work is more challenging because I'd also like to port my new applications and updates—which were created for 64-bit—to 32-bit as well.
