This version integrates last three years of AROS development and brings 32-bit kernel to the same level as upcoming 64-bit AROS release. New kernel brings improved support for newer, ACPI-enabled hardware, complemented by improvements to disk and network drivers as well as updates to core system libraries and more than 60 bug fixes across AROS programs and libraries. Additional work has been put in stabilizing drivers for virtual environment (VirtualBox, VMware and QEMU) so that you can try AROS first in virtualization before deciding on purchasing a dedicated hardware.

For download of binary packages and overview of changes please visit:

If you are already using previous version (20220318-1), you can upgrade your installation using this upgrade package:

Norwegian input for keyboard is gone. I think some other input languages are missing too. Thanks in advance.

Take the keyboard you need from older releases - they should still work.

The old KeyMaps seem not to be compatible, I tried to compile the sources of 'pc105_n.c' with GCC, but I get an error !

There are additional keyboard files in SYS:Storage/Keymaps. After I moved pc105_n to DEVS:Keymaps and restarted I see 'Norsk' keymap in the list.

Ah, and place in Devs:keymaps/
Thanks, that work Smile
Was not like that before.

The Flags in Local are there for all countries supported by AROS, but many KeyMaps do not work, on VMware unsupported KeyMaps generate strange fonts.

Firstly, many, many thanks for all the work that's gone into this release, I've finally found some time to update my laptops via the zip file above and everything that was woking with the previous release (20220318-1) srill looks to be working fine, which is fantastic. However, there is something that's throwing up a problem, and I think this was for the previous release too; Fryingpan no longer seems able to inport and burn an iso.

I've been trying, when time allowed, to download the new isos and try them for a few months now, but with no success at burning the disks. Firstly I though my old stock of CDs were degraded, but ordering new ones has not helped. I've just tried changing the drive for one that I know works (from my one Linux machine) and no better.

However, I've just realsed the 'import existing iso' didn't look quite rigtht. when selecting 'import existing iso'. On comparing it to a version of Fryingpan from a few years ago (last Icaros distributon), you can see this is the case - please see the attached (first image is current Fryingpan, second is old version). The old verion did work back then, but trying it now, awhile the correct tab appears, it doesn't seem to be loading the iso image correctly and when you try to burn you get an 'assertion failed' error.

Difficult to say just when it stopped working; as mentioned its wasn't with the 20220318-1 relesase but unfortunately I can't remember before that when it was.

Sorry,
Nigel.

Glad you were able to correctly update your machines Smile

As for Fryingpan bug, I documented it here: https://github.com/deadwood2/AROS/issues/200, but to be fair I don't think there will be capacit to look into this topic this year.

On VMware I cannot test the operation, but FryingPan on AROS One ABIv0 32Bit imports an ISO without problems, see sceenshot !

Of course, I appreciate much bigger things are in the works :-) For the moment I'll burn on my Linux machine (it's just I rarely boot it as it's so slow compared to AROS...)

Next step it to see if I can set up my old desktop as a dual boot 32/64 bit (one on each of two hard drives, selecting which to boot from in the bios) and then hopefully try out the new OWB.

Cheers,
Nigel.

I don't think that's imported as an iso - it's treating the file as a track. I've been able to do that, but when I try to burn it I just end up with an un-readable disk.

Cheers,
Nigel.

P.S. there is another issue with the current version of Fryinpan - if you try to export an iso iamge you cannout select any other naming option aside from level 1 and files are not actually icluded in the resulting iso (the file 8.3 name is there but the file is 0 bytes). The older version works as expected.

At first glance yes, but as mentioned when selecting 'import existing disc image' the correct panel is not displayed and when using the drop-down to select iso options, whilst these seem to respond they are not acted upon (indeed if you close the drop-down and then reopen it the options that were set are blanked again),

Cheers,
Nigel.

Both versions (old and recent) say they are 1.4. If your version is showing the correct panel possibly the one in archives is the one that was included with Icaros?

Cheers,
Nigel.
