I'm installing the latest i386 Linux Hosted and Contributions archives and have a problem. When I open a shell using the main menu all of the additions to the search path and assignments made in the startup-sequence and user-startup are included. When I start a new shell, however, from clicking on System:Shell the assignments are included but the search path is only the current directory and C:. I will try as a workaround adding path assignments to S:Shell-Startup.

The shell in Amiga OS3.1 inherits the path additions made during startup. Just wanted to get this out there as an issue. Thanks, I'm having fun.

NathanH, I didn't quite understand the problem from the translation. Could you give an example or, better yet, a video?

AROS has better Shell management than OS3. For example, if you open a Shell from a path open in a window, you will already be in that path!

Thanks, I don't know how to record or post a video. There is a program in the SYS:System drawer called Shell. When I double-click it to run it it opens a new shell. I then type the command 'path' in this new shell and it shows only 'Current Directory' and 'C:'. Several other paths were added in the startup-sequence, though, but this new shell did not inherit those paths. I believe that in Amiga OS3.1 it does inherit all of the path additions made during startup.

Just tried this on 32 bit and I did see all the set paths. Are you running 64 bit?

Okay, you just need to add the CLI command in Tooltypes Icon, see screenshot.

Thank you AMIGASYSTEM. Adding 'CLI' to the tooltypes solved the issue. Never would have thought of doing that on my own.
