@AMIGASYSTEM - when you see this problem on 64 bit native, what network adapter are you using? I'm just wondering if it can be pinned down to an owb or a diver problem. Althogh there is one more vaiable; I suppose it could be an issue in AROSTCP itself.

Cheers,
Nigel.

As I mentioned in the attached link, the problem occurs when I am connected via ‘USB tethering’.

Just an uneducated observation, but I wonder if the issue with timeout on Google etc. is due to the cookie acceptance panel. I've noticed for many sites first time of loading is slow and the first thing that appears on opening the page is the cookie preferences box. Once this is set subsequent page loads seem to be faster. Google has quite an involved 'terms and conditions' panel, so could that be causing the timeout?

Cheers,
Nigel.

I don't think it's a problem with OWB or cookies, otherwise we would have the same problem on VMware as well.

FYI: I will be looking into "google search/google timeout" issue - hopefully next or following week.

For testing, I've found another site whoh loads at a very slow pace - bclm.com.

Cheers,
Nigel.

@deadwood:

The site eab.abime.net does a verification to see if the user is not a bot, ant it FAILS saying that it needs cookies, BUT cookies ARE enabled in the browser.

Same thing happens when doing a web search using the search engine marginalia-search.com !
The home page of the search engine is loaded normally though.

I've seen the bot detection on EAB and it failed for me once. I then restarted the browser and the bot detection worked correctly.

I just tested this search engine and I immediately got the "Oh noes! invalid response" error message.

Mind you, I was using the latest version of Firefox...

So, I am afraid there is nothing that needs to be fixed in Odyssey.

@ASiegel

Searching on marginalia-search.com works fine on my updated Firefox on Windows 7 64-bit.

The point I was trying to make was that if the same behavior happens with mainstream web browsers (I am using the term loosely here since Firefox is pretty niche by now), the problem is most likely with the Anubis server software, which handles the browser check, and not web browsers like either Firefox or Odyssey Web Browser.

The fact that it happened to work for you does not disprove this theory.

@deadwood

I'm using AxRuntime. The bot detection fails everytime.

Also www.vocalremover.org bot detection fails on Axruntime.

Can you a have a look at it please

Also www.temu.com displays a blank page. Can you fix it

I'm also using Odyssey under AxRuntime and it works for me on EAB - I'm visiting it daily. Are you using default Odyssey user agent or spoofing as some other browser? I'm using default Odyssey user agent. Alternativelly write to admins of EAB to add Odyssey to whitelist.

About bot detection, there is nothing much that can be helped TBH. Maybe update to WebKit engine will work, but there is no guarantee. You can write the the support of the pages you tried to visit and ask them to add Odyssey to white list.

About temu.com and other non-working pages - again possibly a WebKit engine will help, but I'm not planning on working on Odyssey for the next 3-6 months.

I tried the EAB website, it immediately checks if I am a bot, but then it works.

Just had the attached error: I was trying to post on AROS World at the time. It didn't take the system down through and I was able to open a new instance of OWB to post this.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Thanks, didn't see it before. Nothing immediatelly comes to mind as the source.

I've had some other probelms with OWB but haven't reported them as the crashes drop the machine into a hard reset with no error information given and they seem totally random: a site can cause a crash, and on rebooting the site can be viewed without problems. There's no pattern as to which sites cause a crash either or the activity leading up to it. As mentioned in the other thread, when the new 64 bit release comes out I'll reformat sys:, do a fully fresh install and see if any issues persist.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Note that there is not goint to be a full release but an update package. You might as well install 20250418+U2 already now and when the update comes just apply U3 on top.

How much RAM do you have in your machine when you are using Odyssey?

Thanks for the information. Update 2 is installed, the ram is 8 GB.

I'm using Odyssey daily for amiga sites and I don't experience that kind of instability. I guess we'll have to go back to this when I back to updating Odyssey (that should come somewhere after 64-bit drivers work is done)

I need the context menu to copy and paste links. I am currently using 32-bit Aros to meet this need and can wait.

Thank you
