About FastTracker 2, i already built a 64bit SDL2 version but is slow (scrolling and operation of the interface is really slow...the music is ok i think)...and for now i would not release.

@retrofaza from your video i saw that this SDL1 version (with EmuV0) is really fast like on 32 bit. Thanks

Farox, could you still publish the SDL2 version so that it can be tested on other machines too? Could you also compile a lighter SDL1 version?

@AMIGASYSTEM

For AROS-hosted you need to use emuv0-linux binary as well as an updated kernel - it was shared in one of the first posts in this thread.

@Farox

Hopefully you will get FT2 running natively on 64-bit. EmuV0 just gets us something workable now, but it has it's quirks (like UI issues) and it time it should fade in importance as native ports will appear.

@Farox

Thanks for continuing to work on this port. A fast, stable, native tracker will be very useful to us Smile

Unfortunately, the RNO software is plagued by interface text that is not properly aligned, but it can still be used aniway thank you deadwood

Anyway, some software can be replaced with the ports already made for x86_64, for example with those from SerkLike

@deadwood

Okay, now on AROS Hosted Linux Emuv0 seems to work, only FT2 restarts the system when exiting the programme.

Even on AROS 64bit Hosted, Dopus4 crashes if you try to Copy, Copy AS, and Move files; on Hosted it is much more frequent.

Between which disks does that happen? Also please make a screenshot of crash with More... clicked.

It happens that for a certain period of time there are no Gurus with DOPS4, but then suddenly it happens repeatedly.

On AROS 64 Hosted Dopus4, it is much more noticeable. In addition to the automatic Guru, if you try to copy from a network share, DOpus4 ‘does not copy the files’ but copies them with a size of 0 bytes, so Dopus 4 on Hosted Linux is unusable for copying files.

I am attaching two screenshots taken on AROS Hosted, one showing the 0-byte copy files, the second showing the Guru when you try to copy something from the network share.

It feels like we discussed this before, didn't we? Is the crash happening only when copying from SMB network share?

Can you please trigger this crash when copying from RAM: to RAM: or from System: to System: and show again the crash requester with More.. button clicked.

We already talked about this. I am trying to activate Guru when copying between hard disks or from hard disk to RAM, but this rarely happens.

Sometimes copying between hard disks freezes and you have to cancel to continue. Sometimes, after the copy freezes, you have to restart.

If it helps, I am attaching the native Guru Wmware during file copying on the network. Here on the native system, it also happens occasionally and repeatedly after a restart.

On AROS 32bit, these Guru errors have never occurred in any type of copy.

Now I have obtained GURU between Hardisk and Hardisk, and GURU between Hardisk and RAM. I am attaching the two screenshots!

Were you reading or writting to Harddisk?
What device the harddisk is running? IDE or AHCI?
Is this happening on real hardware or only in VMWARE?

On a native PC, Dopus4 seems to have no problems even when copying files from the network (native PC tested from AROS One Live Pendrive).

The Guru occurs on WMware but also with QEmu when I copy files or directories to any location. On QEmu, in addition to the Guru, the crash restarts Qemu.

On Wanderer, there is no GURU when copying files and directories, and even installation from DVD does not encounter problems despite copying gigabytes of data.

On WMware, I use Hardfile IDE, but as mentioned, even when copying to RAM, I encountered the Guru.

In this screenshot, you can see how, in Dopus4 64Bit, during an operation, the mouse arrow ‘breaks in two’ and, in other cases, turns into a series of dots.

The pointer is automatically restored if you cancel the operation you are performing, click on Wanderer, or exit Dopus.

The problem with FastTracker2 Clone has been solved. The output block was caused by the configuration file (modified Skins) that I was using on AROS One 32bit.

Now it works fine even when loading multiple MOD files, see video!

Finally got the emulation package installed and copied across libs and classes from my Samsung netbook's installation. First test was with ghostscript, but unfortunately not very successful - immediately on trying to launch the gs program the machine froze requiing a hard reboot, unfortunatey no error messages at all.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Is ghostscript a "user program" or really a driver for USB printers? In the later case I don't think emulation will be supporting this.

Also when installing the emulation (at this point) make sure you don't overwrite libraries that come with it with libraries from your 32-bit instalation. You can add new libraries/classes though.

EDIT: Also have you validated with a simpler program (one of those confirmed to work in this thread) that your installation is correct?

As I work with PDFs daily in my teaching job, ghostscript is a massively useful tool, and it would be a rare week when I don't ake use of it for extracting pages from PDFs, joining PDFs and most usefully rendering pages as bitmaps for editing and incroporating into PageStream documents.

When I was copying across the extra libs and classes I used 'dontovr' to preserve the existing files.

You're absolutely right, I should have tested against a working case first; I've just tried ZuneHexEditor, that works fine. I also tried clock as a simple program but that crashed with a priviledge violation error - please see attached.

Cheers,
Nigel.
