Posted 6 days agoAnd in other news, I started a couple of new experiments. I have a Markdown editor that I started as a side effect of working on FolioPDF. Today I figured I'd also like to build a calendar/organizer app, but slightly different from any other I know of.
Calendars usually ask: Is it a meeting?
Todo apps: is it a task?
Contacts: is it a person?
Notes: is it a note?
And I want the app to say: Today is Tuesday, what's on your mind? Write. We will figure out the structure later.
So I will try to build a calendar/todo app with an open structure, based on Markdown files, that feels more like physical calendars/organizers: day, paper, write. But with better search and copy/paste.
But what is truly new (for me) is:
* I will attempt to build a block editor, similar to notion/medium. You have free-flowing text that is built out of blocks
* This will be a reusable block shared by the calendar app and the text editor
So the document structurally looks something like this:

Posted 6 days ago@coffeecat -@Bohun - Unfortunately, my card's fat has gone bad. I won't be able to test anything else today.
That's likely the reason. The hash shouldn't change unless the file itself changes, and it could only change if something happened to the file itself.
I don't think that's the cause. After formatting, I still can't install the folio via APKG, but I can install the APKG itself. Unfortunately, there are only two apps for ARM, so it's hard to pinpoint the cause. I had trouble pasting the command from Amelinium into Shell (Amelinium only displays one line when using the code tag), so I was juggling the card between my Mac and Raspberry Pi, and at some point, I damaged the FAT structure on the card. But I think the problem lies elsewhere. Perhaps someone else could try installing the folio on a Raspberry Pi via APKGand share their findings?
Overall, the idea of arospkg is great and it would be nice if other developers adopted it as a standard.
Since the Raspberry Pi version doesn't have a GUI, the problem is that I don't know which applications I can install. Unless there's a command I can use to check this? So far, I only know that there are two for my architecture out of 151 total.

It's hard for me to debug this remotely - on QEMU writing to RAM and to SD card worked. I can't get internet to work, so I have not tested this path.
I added new build with the GUI as well, but this should not matter, GUI is just a frontend on the CLI: https://github.co...4.0-pigui1
If you have a moment and want to help:
Type the commands in a Shell, in the drawer that holds apkg. Using RAM:FT keeps the test apart from your normal packages.
1. apkg version and stack
Code Download source
Stack 262144
apkg --version2. Install Folio with apkg
Code Download source
apkg --root RAM:FT update
apkg --root RAM:FT show folio
apkg --root RAM:FT install folioIf apkg reports a checksum error, copy down the full message, then:
Code Download source
List RAM:FT/cache
Copy RAM:FT/cache/#? SYS:FolioBad/ ALLList shows the file size. The correct file is 28,848,659 bytes. If the cache drawer is empty after the error, say so.
3. Check a copy that apkg did not download
Get the same archive another way: with a browser or wget on the Pi if you have one, or on your computer and copied to the card:
https://github.com/tomaszstaniak/aros-foliopdf/releases/download/v0.4.1/Folio-0.4.1-aros1.aarch64-aros-raspi.zip
Save it as SYS:folio.zip, then:
Code Download source
List SYS:folio.zip
apkg assert-hash SYS:folio.zip 693ebe244eaa8ef6b1e7fa7ce22217ea70b43261b79aa665fd96c6e03a1f5fe0
Copy SYS:folio.zip RAM:folio.zip
apkg assert-hash RAM:folio.zip 693ebe244eaa8ef6b1e7fa7ce22217ea70b43261b79aa665fd96c6e03a1f5fe0

This check passes but step 2 failed: the problem is in apkg's download.

This check also fails on a file of the right size: the problem is in hash calculation or card reads on this Pi.

The size is not 28,848,659 bytes: the download itself was cut short or altered.
4. If the install succeeds
Code Download source
apkg --root RAM:FT list
apkg --root RAM:FT open folio
apkg --root RAM:FT remove folio
List RAM:FT ALLThe last command shows whether anything was left after removal, for example BUILD-REPORT.md.
Please send back

the apkg --version output;

the full messages from steps 2 and 3;

on a checksum error, the file from SYS:FolioBad/, or at least its size.
Posted 6 days agoPlease copy that verified ZIP to SYS: and run assert-hash on the copy, as you did with the September build.
The leftover CHANGELOG is also useful evidence: removal left a file even in RAM. Please share the contents of RAM:FT/db/doctor/folio-6ac4d35b.json so we can investigate that separately.

Posted 4 days agoHi,
Hopefully, it was in the attached picture? Usually 18th sept for the speed although with fat sd issues. 1st october only if necessary as it has fat fixes which slows access. Want to use usb3 sata again to see if it is better but not fully booting for me at the moment. I think success is determined how the sd card reacts to fat32 formatting and usage, i.e. sadly, a complete lottery how you get on.

Posted 4 days agoSay "hi" to hardcode (working name).
Hardcode aims to bring the coding-agent experience of Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode to AROS - natively, powered by Limpet, with workspace boundaries and permission controls.
It can work LM Studio locally provided models, or Anthropic, OpenAI, and OpenRouter provided models with a BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys) approach.

It will come with CLI for default shell but the rich interface will be available only in Limpet-capable terminals. Zune GUI will be available as well.

Posted 4 days agoI'm copying the commands (on a Mac), because on Amelinium when I attach the code, only one line is visible and it's impossible to copy it.

I need full output of these commands, you put them including the hash; but I see that it worked for the other colleague so I am still guessing its something within your system

Posted 4 days agoas you can see, I have nothing in the cache, even though something was downloading

Posted 4 days agoThanks, this confirms the failure is still happening. The downloaded ZIP is no longer in the cache after verification fails, so the commands I gave you cannot inspect it. You haven’t done anything wrong.
I’ll check how to preserve the rejected download before asking you to test again. No further commands are needed for now.
