B&C - expected at this point. It's an Ivy Bridge chipset, so the ports were all switched to xHCI now and pcixhci.device is not functional on those boards yet
A - is this a regression then for WiFi dongle? I was under impression that it worked correctly with 0331 build.

Posted 8 hours agoWith the latest build on the Latitude 3330 I previously tested:
A:
- FAT USB drives seem to work fine.
- USB WiFi opens but doesn't connect (maybe it would have if I gave it more time). The system seems very sluggish after networking is started with realtek8180.device.
B & C:
- Stuck at media screen when boot drive is in either USB 2 or 3 ports.
According to PCITool, I have "7 Series/C216 Chipset Family".

Posted 1 day agoNew build:
https://build.axrt.org/download/builds/Experimental/exp-usb3-pc-x86_64-20260411-050146.tar.gz
Fixes:
- USB3 chipset initialization and hand-off fix for Intel IvyBridge, Haswell and Broadwell chipset motherboards
- GA-H81M-S2V motherboard now detects pen drive being plugged in into USB3 port but still fails when communicating with it
(no other changes, only test if you have a motherboard with mention chipsets OR other dual-EHCI/xHCI motherboards)

Posted 3 days agoOk, there seems to be something non-stardard with the controller in that Lenovo E545. I'll keep that in mind. I have some AMD hardware as well.

Posted 3 days agoHi,
Lenovo V155 and Lenovo E545.
It seems the usb2/3 boot freezes when anything is plugged into the usb3 port on boot up with option B

Please provice exact models for your "usb3 only" and "usb2/3 hybrid" laptops
With regards to "usb3 only" GET_DESCRIPTORS error - one of my hardware has it as well. It's on my TODO list
With regards to "usb2/3 hybrid" - does the touchpad freeze right after boot or after plugging in a device into USB3 port?

Posted 3 days agoNew build:
https://build.axrt.org/download/builds/Experimental/exp-usb3-pc-x86_64-20260409-095921.tar.gz
Fixes:
- on some configurations, USB3 was being powered down right after plugging in a device. Fix might help with booting from USB3. @Jeff1138 this might help with your trackpad issue. Let me know.
- on configurations with >=4GB RAM, usb pendrives for USB2 ports could become unredable - wrong disk names, file system errors etc (@ncafferkey)
Additionally, the ISO has now 3 testing configurations in GRUB: A, B and C. Configuration A will only load USB2 driver, configuration B will only load USB3 driver and configuration C will load both drivers. You can use these configuration to test different scenarios. When reporting issues, be sure to describe which configuration you used.

1) It's the same symptomps I see across all of my real hardware. This is next on my TODO.
2) Thanks.

1) It shows that the devices are attached to 'PCI Root Hub'. I also tried putting the second EHCI controller offline, but Trident hung. And I tried booting without pciusb.device but got stuck on the boot media screen.
2) Some information from an old AROS-Exec post:

1) Thanks, I'll try that later.
2) I and most AROS users use the Netgear WG111v3. I have a list somewhere of other devices that should work. I'll look later, but anything with an RTL8187B chip should work in theory.

1) After booting, could you attach WiFi and mouse to USB3 and then run 'PsdDevLister TOPOLOGY'? At the end of the output you will be topology of connected devices. Are they connected to 'PCI Root Hub' (which suggests your USB 3.0 is actually working in 2.0 compatibility) or are they connected to 'PCI Superspeed Root Hub' (true USB 3.0) operations?
2) Can you share a link (amazon, ebay, etc) to the WiFi dongle you are using? I need to buy one for regression testing and want to make sure I get the right one.

I was actually able to boot the original USB3 ISO I had been trying once I enabled nested paging in the VM. Is this expected, or should I bisect to establish when that became necessary?
Ahh, right. In my experience that setting was alway needed in VirtualBox to boot AROS.
