8 years agoTried Quake shortly and it is blazing fast!! Going to have to add some extra software though. What is in the top 10 for AROS? OWB? Janus-UAE? Oh I also noticed there were games in AspireOS 2.0 that are not part of 2.1. Was that intentional?

8 years agonikos! Got my USB stick today. Thank you so very much. I was able to install it after a few attempts to do it the right way. Now I am just waiting for the wireless card so I can download all other software etc.

8 years agoAmigamia: It is from optical disk you try to boot right?
Some times I had to try many times before Grub showed up. If you get some error you can can try to type exit, and you will get to the grub menu.

8 years agoAmigamia: That looks right. AspireOS 2,1 is only for real hardware like this laptop.

8 years agoNo such luck nikos. I downloaded the .rar file, extracted the iso and mounted on VirtualBox as I have done many times with Aspire Os and other OS. It won't boot. Skipping the media and the CD/DVD player.

8 years agoI can confirm it does not boot as a mounted ISO on Virtual Box either.
Error: FATAL Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.

8 years agoHi nikos,
While waiting for the USB stick (Thanks a million!) I tried to download the ISO of Aspire OS 2.1 and boot from the CD but I have tried already several CDs + different burners and it does not seem to boot? I thought It was the DVD player on the D520 but I tried other linux DVDs and it works fine. Plus, the Aspire OS 2.1 CD are not booting on other laptops I have around. Can you check?

8 years agoamigamia: That is not possible. You need to install AROS or AspireOS to a Smart file system formated USB drive and if you are going to do that you need to install from some virtual player running AROS.
Just pm me your address and I send AspireOS to you on a USB stick. That saves you a lot of trouble :)
When you get that stick you can easily install to your internal drive.
