Hmmm...I think I discovered something while looking at the sources for AROS version of Jano Editor. Actually, I discovered two things. The Linux version and AROS version are completely different.

The second discovery is that the AROS version that I will just call "Text Editor" has a small app called "Syntax" which compiles the syntax text file into a syntax binary such as c.syntax which I suppose is then assigned to the Text Editor in Prefs.

Actually, it seems that the Amiga 68k version and the AROS version are also different. The Amiga sources from Aminet indicate that the 68k Prefs consists of General Tab, Colors Tab and Syntax Tab. The AROS version is a simplified general prefs including colors but not syntax. It would be interesting to try the Amiga version of Jano Editor.

I thought TwinsIDE and Murks deserved a new thread rather than posting on someone else's topic! ;-p

If someone like myself only wants the syntax highlighting text editor then TwinsIDE is complete and useful. Where can I get a binary?

I'd like to try it on some source code on AROS. From what I can see in the screenshot the text rendering is really nice! As long as it can Load and Save the source code it works.

I don't use Murks IDE on AROS. I only edit my source code while compiling in the shell using GCC. For quickly fixing compiling errors the Jano Editor is satisfactory. But it messes with the indentation and the AROS version doesn't have syntax highlighting. Other than that it has some other nice features.

It's interesting that the Linux version has the provision for custom plugins for syntax highlighting & indentation. Maybe the AROS version can be fixed.
