Gateway Timeout
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.
Additionally, a 504 Gateway Timeout error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Hello team, I have had a few reports that the above message shows when browsing to this site and ae.arosworld.org. If you do get the same while browsing here, please report here Day and Time and any other details like browser used etc. etc.
If you receive the message on ae.arosworld.org, please report on the thread I opened there. This seems to be an issue with the hosting service and it goes away without me doing anything about it. I am trying to track the events so I can submist a support request.
Got 504 @ 12:29 UTC today
504:
vr 2023-11-10 12:27:xx UTC
till about
vr 2023-11-10 12:29:xx UTC
It was lasting a bit longer now. Took me several reloads and the time in between the site responded with either the 504 or got stuck during load (so I had to refresh).
2023-11-12 ~12:30 - ~12:35 UTC
Looks like some backup running at 12:30 UTC?

2 years agoInterestingly enough, AE.arosworld.org SMF alerts me at the same time with this email:
There has been a problem with the database!
This is a notice email to let you know that SMF could not connect to the database, contact your host if this continues.
I have received 2 so far since I set the auto-forwarding and the last one came in at the same time you reported it (7:34AM EST which corresponds to 12:34 UTC)
za 2 dec 2023 13:31:04 CET
That was the first, then at least 3 attempts followed (around 5 minutes total timespan) resulting in the same gateway error.
Over last couple of days I'm getting getaway timeour errors at different parts of day. One of every 4-5 refreshes ends with this error. Is it just me or others are also experiencing problems using arosworld?

2 years agoThank you for reporting it. It is not just you. I have been experiencing the same issue. It is a hosting service issue, which I am reporting soon enough. It is temporary and normally refreshing the page clears it.

2 years agoThis has been acknowledged by the hosting service and supposedly resolved. Please report here for any future issues.

2 years agoToday, the 504 Gateway Timeout error occasionally returns, and sometimes the site is slow to open.

Hmm, while I no longer get gateway timeouts, I now get sometimes long page load times that look pretty much as gateway timeouts where someone just extendeded the timeout...

2 years agoI also confirm that I have the same problems, once I even received error 504.
ae.arosworld.org, on the other hand, seems to have no such problems!

2 years agoI have been at this on and off. The error log is showing some new errors I have never seen before. While investigating some of them, I came to the realization that the PHP support has been upgraded to 8.3.8. Unfortunately, a bunch of functions for PHP-Fusion 9.10.20 and other code lines have been deprecated in PHP 8.3.8.
Now here is the annoying part. There is a newer version of PHP-Fusion 9.10.30 but I don't think it'll resolve most of the issues because it is from September 2022. I have seen some of the code in the functions, which seems to still be the same.
On the other end, the project seems to be in a hiatus state, 1 developer and a bunch of people in the community helping here and there.
There is no path forward so far for PHP-Fusion. There is development going but it seems to be a brand-new code base, which means probably no upgrade path.
I have been fixing the code lines myself. So far, I fixed 3 of them but there are still some that come up as deprecated code.
I am going to see if the hosting service can move my code base back where it was before. Not sure if that's possible but worth a try.
The other alternative is to find another hosting service where I can switch between PHP support. This one was very cheap for the amount of traffic I was getting a few years ago. I just have to find one at a reasonable price that works somewhat better.
