Hello Micky and welcome to this forum, Icaros Desktop needs a radical update, you need to update the Core with the latest "compiled C library" build, also you need to delete/replace all third party software compiled with the old Core.

In addition you need to delete the libraries that are no longer compatible, HERE you will find discussions about the change.

This update hopefully as soon as possible will be done by "Paolone" its developer !

Icaros Desktop haven't been officially updated in several years. There is an unofficial update that you can find here:

http://archives.aros-exec.org/?function=showfile&file=development/utility/icaros_2.3_fix.lha

Alternatively, try one of the up-to-date distributions.

The problem with most of my PCs is that the Live CD stops booting with an ACPI error. Only a Medion notebook works with it.

In the first section of this page:

https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Complete_System_HCL

You can find hardware that is recommended for latest release of AROS.

In later section, you can find reports on different hardware with possible workarounds listed.

In modern computers, it is unlikely that AROS will boot, I don't know what systems it uses

It is not an update, only a few new libraries and some program updates have been added, the Core has not been updated, it remains the 2018 one !

But at this point if only Icaros works for him, what should he do, just use the system cautiously
