After a week of hard work, I managed to get I.A. to create a midi.datatypes file with built-in software synthesizer support.

It was really hard work explaining to I.A. and helping her understand the various audio corrections that needed to be made—there were dozens and dozens of them, including noises, creaks, crackles, hisses, slowdowns, and many other audio issues. I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it, but in the end, I succeeded.

Tested on both a virtual machine and a native PC.

Now Multiview and all players that use midi.datatypes will be able to play MIDI files through a software synthesizer as well.

Very nice! Congratz!

Very nice work! Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

BTW inspired by your success I started an MP3 Datatype. ;-)

I’d like to clarify that midi.datatypes doesn’t require any tools because it generates them itself; it works only with players that use these datatypes, such as Multiview—see the video attached above.

The synthesizer is included in midi.datatypes; essentially, it replaces a hardware synthesizer if one isn’t present.

I have asked Claude to create a mp3 datatype. Perhaps someone could look at it. Attached (for 64bit)

Certainly, I'm trying to do the same thing. I'll take a look at it to see if it may work as written.

If you have the source code created for native AROS (not Linux), it will be easier to compile it, you'll even be able to compile it from AROS 68k

The mp3 Datatype requires LibMad. Make sure it has been compiled for AROS before compiling the datatype.

I'll try to compile the datatype this evening after work. I'm curious if it works. My version uses Mpega Library which is already in AROS Libs directory.

It seems that user deremon has compiled LibMad for AROS. You might ask if the 64bit version is available. Or a 68k version?

This already exists in Contrib ... you could potentially use AI to help bug fix existing work ... but it is highly recommened to have AI look at the AROS repo's(Main, Contrib, Ports) prior to duplicating work. an added benefit is it's starting from proper AROS/AmigaOS conventions and helping you expand/fix existing software.

@ OlafSch
It doesn't work that way. As I've already said, you have to lay the groundwork. Your code wasn't designed for AROS; I successfully compiled it with libmad-0.15.1b as specified in your source code, and it didn't work. If you want I.A. to do things right, you have to prepare the dish with the right ingredients.

Let’s wrap up this off-topic discussion; let’s keep this thread focused on midi.datatype!!!

If you want to discuss this, start a separate thread.
