Hello,

I would like to install Samba on AROS (specifically ArosOne 64-bit), but I’m not sure where to start. There are two archives available on Aros-Archive. I tried installing the GUI, but it throws errors related to "datatype." Is there perhaps a guide available on how to install Samba?

Best regards,

You mean as a client to talk to network shares on Windows? I think this is already working somehow by default in AROS One. Samba is Carlo's preferred way of exchanging data so look into the distribution itself.

On AROS One, you can use SMB2, which works very well; AROS One has everything you need.
Once there is compatibility with ABIv1, you'll be able to use the correct version of SMB by configuring it directly in Network Preferences.

I want to exchange data with my home laptop, which has Fedora Linux installed (everything is on the same home network).

So, I take it this is part of the system—where should I start? Is there any documentation available, such as a list of commands, a help section, or a step-by-step guide? Not everyone is a programmer or expected to know everything; apologies if I’ve offended anyone.

There's a video tutorial and all the necessary information on AROS One!

I've attached the video here. In the video tutorial, I used a network drive (you can use a shared folder) on Windows “without needing a password.” If you have a password, you'll need to enter your username and password.
