I can confirm that Gloom crashes when run from the icon, and a strange error occurs if you run it from a script + icon.

Gloom only works properly when run from the Shell

To play, you need 1 file from the original Diablo:
DIABDAT.MPQ

For the Hellfire expansion, you also need 4 files:
