Re: Cross/native compiling GCC in/for Aros
Hi, Okay, I have installed various Aros systems (Icaros, AspireOS, both Linux and Windows-hosted) variants. I am interested of making music Aros, working with another guy using old Amiga's, I write my own software, which I am trying to "port" to Aros. For that, I need SoX audio utility. I have tried to compile on Windows-hosted system, running Aros and compiling SoX from sources, but no luck so far. It is close, especially SoX version 12.17, compiles all to object files, but doesn't link the final binary. To do this, I have installed these packages of Aros: AROS-20180924-mingw32-i386-system AROS-20180924-pc-i386-contrib No messages of missing anything, so it seems I have all needed, if not, any tips welcome :) ! Thanks !

Re: USB game controllers
Tested both of my controllers (the F710 and F310) on native installation and they seem to work with the class just fine while plugged in at the same time. Had bit of a trouble with the corded one on housted. It just didn't want to play along... at all...

Re: USB game controllers
OS4 and MorphOS have support for some controllers that is working with 2 analogue sticks and more buttons. DizzyOfCRN is trying to implement this for AROS too now. He tried to register here so maybe he show up soon :)

Re: USB game controllers
Iirc the lowlevel lib was designed for the Cd32. It can only read 7 buttons per port, it reads the hat or xy analog, but not both, and cannot read z-axis or rotation, Imo, if the lowlevel lib was expanded or redesigned, then joy configuration would not be such a pita. What have the other Ng systems done?

Re: USB game controllers
As things are right now AROS has only basic game controller support. Would be nice to have a more advanced controller interface where analogue sticks would be supported and a more easy way to configure them.

Re: What's your favorite Aros game for 2015.
Yes, it has nice graphics. It needs at least nvidia graphics, even at low res with the options off. But I have not got very far yet, it starts to get tough after a few levels. I guess I'm not much of a menace ;)

If anyone here has not seen the 2016 survey at Aros-Exec, please take a moment to go answer a few questions that the devs find useful. http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?start=0&topic_id=9754&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0 Thanks :)

Like i said, many people do something similar in/on their blog-sites. See for example paolone's icarosdesktop website, and i'm personally providing some programming examples on my github account and in the process of experimenting with github wiki to see if that could be used as a paltform to write some faq articles on topics that seem to re-occur (i'm not favouring current AROS wikibook structure). I would say go ahead. No need to inform anyone (unless you want some traffic), only in case you are re-using/distributing software from others it might be advisable to inform (usually a simple ask is all it takes when license isn't free for distribution) However, you might want to think about/consider if you want to do all the effort yourself (of setting up blog/website etc.) or that you perhaps (also) could write things in the AROS wikibook. Of course the wikibook is a wiki and might not be very practical for the things you have in mind (like i have decided for myself)
magorium wrote: Well, due to English not being my native tongue, i'm still a bit in the guesswork as of what you had in mind exactly. If you want to setup an AROS related website, then that's ok. If you want to create a new AROS distribution then that's ok as well. If you want to sell your newly created distribution then that's ok as well. As long as the conditions of the license are met ;) There are many people out there that blog about AROS (some even dedicated to AROS only), or have setup up a discussion board, some (like Paolo, Pascal and Nikos) created a distribution, so i don't seem to grasp why anyone else (you for instance) doing something similar wouldn't be allowed to. As said, whatever your plans are: use common sense and if you're not sure then simply ask around to those involved (i am personally not directly related to the AROS team in any way shape or form, just pretend being an admin on a discussion board). If you want to contact the AROS developers then please write to them in the developers MailingList. FWIW: relicensing, adding an classic emulator slam it up into your own distribution and sell it for big bucks (good luck with that if the case) is heavily frowned upon in the (generic) amiga community and will for sure be a lost cause from the start -> many have tried and failed miserably. PS: usually if someone has an idea and need to ask question or check if there is any interest they run those by on the aros-exec.org forums (as all the aros users/developers usually) hang out over there.
Thanks I'm still new here.
